Yes, I have briefly crawled out from my rock and I hope to soon explain where I have been but for today, it’s all about Iker. Our beloved former Capi called time on a beautiful career. He will always be an icon for Madridistas. I miss his grandpa sweaters, copious tears, pre-game besos and the way he loved Real Madrid so damn much. We were lucky to have him. RM made an official statement full of love (I am side eyeing them a bit, though) and shared a great video – almost 8 minutes of Iker doing what he did best: saves, glorious saves.

I’m working on gathering pictures of the Sergio/Pilar wedding but the saddest news I read yesterday was why Iker and Sara weren’t in attendance. 
Has it really been three years since Brazil?! I’m trying not to think about it, because it means only one year from WC2018 and that is just too much. Too much. But before that, there’s the Confederations Cup to get through. Time for Russia and its football fans to show us all how welcoming and accepting they are, despite the negative press. 
Hope everyone had a lovely New Year’s Eve and have been enjoying the day today. As promised, a bumper crop of what various ‘ballers have been doing on their holidays. There have been engagements, baby announcements, singing in the mirror while dressed in a towel (Cristiano), blue gradient shoes (Sergio), celebrating on a camel (Mateo & Lukita) and a rather ungracious joke about a rival (Toni Kroos, being a bit rude, IMHO). Let’s dig in! (It’s long so be prepared!) 
Under that hipster/mountain man beard, José is a cutie. He’s currently a goalkeeper for Porto alongside Iker. He has represented Portugal at the U20, U21 and U23 levels.
