Mou Speaks, The Ikerpus Decision, Articles and Even More Training Pictures

19 Apr

Mou held his press conference and said among other things that it is he, not Alfredo Di Stefano, who makes the decisions about the game. Oh snap!  He was respectful about it but he’s right – doesn’t matter what others think – the decision rests with him.

Put On Your Game Face: El Clasico Edition

17 Apr

I missed quite a bit of stuff last night due to my post-El Clasico state of tipsiness, so I’ll lump everything in along with some Put On Your Game Face action.  I’m going to start out with this great shot of Sergio and Villa.

Very, Very Interesting…

Debating the merits of which hair gel to use in the game today

So…Marca is reporting the starting line up as follows and I find it very, very interesting – to say the least:

Goalkeeper: Iker

Defenders: Sergio Ramos, Albiol, Carvalho, Marcelo

Midfield: Pepe, Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira

Attackers: Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Angel Di Maria.

So he’s going with a 4-3-3 and leaving Ozil out of it?  Hmmmm, 3 central defenders and CripsyKarim and Fideo up front. What do you guys think about that? Puyi is back for Barca today as well (Bojan and Abidal are still out).  I’ll be interested to see how this works. In Mou We Trust!

Some other little bits…

Tomorrow’s Squad List

15 Apr

Iniestapus has very good taste indeed!

In my infinite wisdom, I forgot to print the squad list for tomorrow’s match.  Here you go!

Goalkeepers: Casillas, Adan, Dudek
Defenders: Pepe, Garay, Carvalho, Sergio Ramos, Arbeloa, Albiol, Marcelo
Midfielders: Xabi Alonso, Ozil, Di Maria, Khedira, Kaka
Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo, Adebayor, Higuain, Benzema

The Mumbai Mirror imagines what would happen if all four El Clasicos were merged into one huge battle for dominance.

In sad news, Didier Drogba’s family was attacked by rebels in the Ivory Coast. His father’s house was torched.

I Guess It Depends On Which Octopus You Believe…

15 Apr

…but either way, we ain’t losin’!  Sea Life Aquarium in Benalmadena, Spain is the home to two octopuses (octopi?) named Iker and Iniesta, who both want to take over the crown of chief psychic-pus. Today, they were asked to predict the winner of tomorrow’s El Clasico. Iniesta says we’re going to beat Barca (!) and Iker wouldn’t eat either sardine indicating a tie (or, he hates sardines).

The press says this is Iker but if they can’t tell Mesut from Sami, I’m not confident in their ability to tell two sea creatures apart.

This is supposedly Iniesta. I think they’re both super cute. The article about our two new psychic critters is here. Look at the author’s name – did Sernando have a baby and not tell us?!
