It’s (Almost Kinda) Official: Mou To Sign 4 Year Deal With Chelsea

24 May

jose_mourinho_1773090bBritish papers are going nuts with the news that Mou will be flying to London on June 2nd to sign a 4 year deal with Chelsea. As with everything, it’s not a done deal until the ink is dry, but this seems like a no brainer. The only question is who he will take with him. I have to say, if he’s leaving us and going to Chelsea, I can’t wait to see what kind of magic he can work on Nando. Mou might be just what he needs. If he doesn’t sell him. This is going to be a completely nutso transfer season.

Thanks for all the kind wishes about Maxie. He’s at the vet now waiting to have his surgery (they sent me home because I was fretting so much) and I won’t know more until later.

The Mouberries Will Always Have a Special Place in HB&HB’s Heart

20 May

I thought I was going to be ok when Mou’s departure was made official, but as soon as I started reading the presser tweets, I found myself wishing & hoping the decision would be that he’d stick it out for one more season. My heart actually skipped a beat when I saw the tweet confirming the opposite. I really will miss Mou. Sure, this was a tough season with all the drama, but I like to look at the big picture and appreciate all that he did. Looking back, the good outweighs the bad, heavily. There were a hell of a lot more times that I loved Mou, than the times that I was unhappy with him. We won three trophies with him, learned to be unafraid of Barca, and believed that we could triumph when things were close to impossible. We didn’t always win, but Mou built a team that fought hard….and if they didn’t want to put up a fight, he was willing to put the fear of Mou in them at halftime. Aside from the technical things Mou did for the team, you gotta give it to him for the entertainment he provided as well. I don’t need to tell you guys how fucking hilarious the guy is, but people should remember the fun & laughs he gave us. We could always count on him, his crazy faces and gestures to lift our spirits when the matches weren’t going so well. I’ll miss his presence on the bench and hoping he would keep his legs shut when the cameras panned & zoomed him! To me, no one is going to be able to fill the space that he’s leaving in the club,I just hope I come to love the new coach, half as much as I loved Mou. So here is a Moupreciation post, full of some of what I think were Mou’s best moments with us. Feel free to share some of your own.

It’s Official: Mou Is Leaving

20 May

mourinhoThey’re mid-presser now. It’s nothing unexpected, but I’m still bummed. Obviously people have strong feelings on Mou but be civil and respectful in the comments.

Preparing For Malaga

7 May
Hmmm, nice booty Karanka!

Hmmm, nice booty Karanka!

I’ve been in meetings for 8 hours straight today. I feel like my brain is about to ooze out of my head. Lucky me, I get to take home a 75 page information architecture document to review tonight. Good times fun! That said, this time next week, I’ll be about to board a flight to Mexico with watishista P for 5 days of rest & relaxation. I’ll be watching that Copa Del Rey final from the beach with a margarita in my hand. Hurrah! Let’s hope I last that long.  The boys had their final training before meeting Malaga tomorrow.  Continue reading

A Bit Of A Catch Up

6 May

BJfc1YiCAAA91ziI’ve been incredibly busy for the past 5 days so I’m going to try to do a quick catch up post, although I know that I won’t be able to fit everything in. Yesterday was Mother’s Day and many of the players posted shots with their mamis and/or partners. Easy to tell Marcelo’s grin anywhere, isn’t it? He’s barely changed! Continue reading

Entrenamiento_Real_Madrid (5)The boys had their final training session before meeting Valladolid tomorrow. Sese, Arbeloa, Marcelo, Pipita and Benz trained indoors. Sergio had finished Tuesday’s match with an injury, so he’s sitting tomorrow out. He’s expected to be fine for the Copa Del Rey final on May 17th.  Continue reading

Nice little side eye The Baby is throwing there.

What kind of day am I having? Well, I didn’t have time for breakfast or my morning coffee until 1:40 PM. I  only had 3 hours of sleep and on the way to the subway, I was catcalled by a dude driving a Mr. Pickle truck. And yes, there’s a gigantic anthropomorphic cartoon pickle on the truck with some sort of slogan about it being firm and suggesting you take a bite, thanks for asking. And after work, I’m going to an “immersive” musical theater “experience” by David Byrne about the life of Imelda Marcos  in which the performers mill about the audience and act everything out. I have been told there is a smoke machine, strobe lights and a disco ball involved. You can stop laughing now. No, seriously, shut up.  😉 And how is your day going? Continue reading
