New Year & Holiday Fun

Hope everyone had a lovely New Year’s Eve and have been enjoying the day today. As promised, a bumper crop of what various ‘ballers have been doing on their holidays. There have been engagements, baby announcements, singing in the mirror while dressed in a towel (Cristiano), blue gradient shoes (Sergio), celebrating on a camel (Mateo & Lukita) and a rather ungracious joke about a rival (Toni Kroos, being a bit rude, IMHO).  Let’s dig in! (It’s long so be prepared!)

Stuart Holden Retires

A day after announcing the birth of  his first child, total sweetheart & USMNT national team midfielder Stuart Holden has decided to hang up his cleats. Poor Stu has had a ton of injuries and some really shitty luck, so he decided to call time on his career. He did it in his usual charming, humble style.

Mazel Tov: Stu Holden & Karalyn West Engaged!

One of our favorite couples is taking the plunge. Stu Holden & Karalyn West got engaged. These two are endlessly sweet and goofy together. Also, incredibly down to earth. They’re the kind of couple you’d love to have a beer with or invite over for an evening of crazy hijinks (Drunken Jenga? Charades in Footie Pajamas?). And it’s about time Toby’s parents tied the knot!  Look how intent the puppins is on his mommy & daddy! Too cute.

I’m so pissed! I thought the match was tomorrow so I scheduled something for Sunday morning that I now can’t get out of. DAMN IT! I’m going to miss the first half. Sigh. So anyhow the team trained again today for the dang match on Sunday. ::pouts::
