Di Maria’s House Attacked

3 Feb

dimaria5001Super scary times for Angel, Jorgelina & little Mia. They were at home having dinner on Saturday after Manchester United’s match vs. Leicester City when thieves tried to force their way into the house by smashing the patio doors in with scaffolding poles. Luckily, an alarm went off and the thieves fled empty handed. United’s security staff took the family to a hotel while the police are investigating and they’ve assigned them a guard detail. As you can imagine, they’re quite shaken up but thankfully everyone is safe.

This 22 year old midfielder has been signed to Manchester United since 2009, but has spent much of that time out on loan (Leicester City, Watford, Wigan) but now with Scholesy’s retirement, there’s a bit of space for him and he’s making a favorable impression. He’s played for England at the U20 and U21 level.

The Daily Drool: Željko Kalac

16 Sep

Well, hello there! Aussie born of Croatian descent, goalie Željko retired at the end of the 2009-2010 season. Here he is modeling for D&G. He started his professional career in 1989 and played in Australia (Sydney United), England (Leicester City), The Netherlands (Roda), Italy (Perugia, Milan) and Greece (Kavala). He started on the Australian U-16 the same year he signed professionally. He eventually moved up to the senior team in 1992 and remained there until 2006. He is currently the goalkeeping coach for A League side Sydney FC. Interesting fact: At 6′ 7 1/2″, he is one of the tallest professional goalkeepers in the world. (Holy crap! How tall is the tallest one?!)

He made 2 appearances for the England U21 team and has been named in other England squads, but has not made his full debut as of yet. Here’s a better shot of his face and lovely smile.

I Certainly Enjoyed That!

And honestly, that goes for both the Real Madrid/Leicester game and seeing Manchester United spank Barca. Okay, gotta admit, there was an enormous amount of satisfaction in the latter. Anyhow, great shot of Leicester’s King Power Stadium, isn’t it?
