New Year & Holiday Fun

Hope everyone had a lovely New Year’s Eve and have been enjoying the day today. As promised, a bumper crop of what various ‘ballers have been doing on their holidays. There have been engagements, baby announcements, singing in the mirror while dressed in a towel (Cristiano), blue gradient shoes (Sergio), celebrating on a camel (Mateo & Lukita) and a rather ungracious joke about a rival (Toni Kroos, being a bit rude, IMHO).  Let’s dig in! (It’s long so be prepared!)

Mazel Tov: Keylor & Andrea’s Wedding

Keylor Navas and Andrea Salas decided that even though they had previously wed in a civil ceremony, they wanted a big church wedding. Keylor’s career commitments from doing it sooner, but they finally took the plunge on June 20 in Santa Ana, Costa Rica.

My apologies for the lateness of this post. I had finals and final papers to complete last week/this weekend. I had to focus my VERY short attention span there instead of our last La Liga match before the Club World Cup, which we begin competing in today against Cruz Azul.

It’s been quite a weekend! We handily won our match and now sit atop the table. Huzzah!  And Gareth rejoined the group today, which is great news. The 6 outfield players who didn’t start worked out with Gareth while Marcelo & Cris trained on their own. We have a Champions League match against Liverpool on Tuesday.
