It’s been a long time coming! Absolutely delighted that after a decade together the USWNT’s Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris (aka Krashlyn) were married on Saturday at an emotional ceremony in Miami.

I’m late bringing you this as I was waiting for a Women’s World Cup all-star team to be announced first. One hasn’t been and likely won’t be. I guess FIFA just wasn’t interested in doing this anymore. Oh well. At least we still have the individual awards to celebrate and debate.

There has been two universal constants on the USWNT: Abby Wambach is gonna score and Pinoe is going to launch herself at Abby full tilt. I wouldn’t want it any other way. I love both these women to distraction. It was so hard to see Abby play her final USWNT game last night. I felt like I was going to drown in a flood of tears.

2015 WWC: Thank You

Somewhere in that mob scene, I’m dancing and cheering. I can’t pick myself out, but it’s right in front of my office so I know I’m there somewhere. What a wonderful experience to see our amazing USWNT players given so much love.  I cried and I say that with absolutely no shame. 

2015 WWC: It’s Award Time!

FIFA recently announced the shortlists for the three (3) major Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 award categories. These lists were created the FIFA Technical Study Group (TSG). Why am I telling you this? It was the TSG which determined Messi was the best player and Neurer the best goalkeeper at last year’s World Cup. Uh huh. Still rolling my eyes hard about those selections.

It is inevitable male-female comparisons are going to happen when a female player gains a certain level of success. I’m guilty of it at times. Our frame of reference for football is largely dominated by the male game.
