I’ve got a special soft spot in my heart for US Women’s National Team forward Abby as she’s a fellow upstate New Yorker by birth but even if that wasn’t the case, I’d love her anyway. What can you say about her that’s not already known? She was a monster player at the high school and college levels, she’s an Olympic gold medalist, won the US Soccer Athlete of the Year 4 times as well as the ESPY for Best Play of 2011 and has been a mainstay of the national team since 2003. She’s played 162 games for her country and scored 121 times (to date)! She’s currently tied with the legendary US player Michelle Akers for most World Cup goals (12). Hopefully in today’s final, she’ll break that record. She also plays for the magicJack of Women’s Professional Soccer. Abby is a fierce, dedicated woman and I’m proud that she represents my country. USA! USA! USA! USA!
