RIP Albert Ebossé

Albert-EbosseI was shocked to hear about the death of Cameroon and JS Kabylie striker Albert Ebossé last night. Ebossé was struck in the head by an object thrown from the stands at the end of the JS Kabylie vs USM Alger game on Saturday. He was rushed to the hospital but he passed away from the injury shortly after.

Egypt’s Chief Prosecutor Files Murder/Negligence Charges Over Riot

It’s been only 6 weeks since the mind-numbing, horrific events at Port Said that left at least 74 fans dead and a nation reeling. Clashes with the police at protests afterward caused even more deaths. Today, BBC News is reporting that Egypt’s chief prosecutor has filed murder and negligence charges against 75 people.  Continue reading

Egypt Aftermath: A Day Of Mourning, Prayer and Protest

I was really struck by some of the pictures coming out of Egypt today as well as the articles. I compiled a number of them to share with you all.

Unrest continued today in the aftermath of yesterday’s riot. The death toll now stands at 79. Here families wait at the train station in Cairo for the return of survivors, the injured and the bodies of the dead. Some injured survivors were flown back by military jet.
