The Daily Drool: 2015 WWC Group A: New Zealand’s Abby Erceg

Abby-ErcegNow, I’m not just picking defender Abby just because we share a birthday (okay, maybe I am). She’s the first player in New Zealand to reach 100 caps for the national team. She’s also represented her country at the Olympic and U20 levels. She currently plays for the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Her hair also defies gravity, so extra cool.

2015 Women’s World Cup: Group A Contenders

You’ve got an international newbie (Netherlands), a team still looking for their first WWC win after 6 tries (New Zealand), the host country team which has never moved past the group stage, and a team which placed fourth way back in 1999. Groups with such wide-ranging international experience like this are always fun. As much as you believe you can predict exactly what will happen, there’s a very real chance the group will turn out to be completely unpredictable. Continue reading
