The Daily Drool – World Cup 2014 – England: Rickie Lambert

32 year old forward Rickie has been holding down the fort at Southampton since 2009. He received his first call up to the England National Team in 2013 at age 31 and scored on his debut (to the delight of his family). He’s a great example of never giving up on your dreams. He’s toiled at every level of English football since making his professional debut in 1998. He’s actually one of the few players to have scored at every level. Read a bit about him – really interesting guy.

This Drool is a request from watishista Matea! Defender Dejan was just signed to Southampton from Lyon. He has represented Croatia at the U17, U18, U19, U20, U21 and senior levels.

4th of July Bits & Bobs

Toby Holden West donned his 4th of July finery and what better way to start this holiday post? For all of my fellow Americans, I hope you had a great day. Me? I had a day of epic sloth to make up for how chaotic things have been lately. I turned down every invite I got and spent the day enjoying some much needed alone time reading & watching movies. IT. WAS. BLISS. Back to work tomorrow though.

Mauricio took over as coach of Southampton on January 18, 2013. From 2009-2012, he managed La Liga side Espanyol.

Another silver fox, Alan has been coaching Newcastle United since 2010. Prior to that he coached at Reading, West Ham United, Charlton Athletic and Southampton.

The Daily Drool: Paulo Gazzaniga

Tall (6’5″) 20 year old goalkeeper Paul hails from Argentina. He spent 2 years at Valencia, but never made an appearance for the first team. When he was released in 2011, he signed with English League 2 side Gillingham. He’s just made the jump to the EPL with the newly promoted Southampton.
