Merry Christmas/Happy New Year From La Roja & La Rojita!

29 Dec

I continue to be about as useful as a block of wood, laying in bed here wheezing, I’ll make two quick posts before I fall asleep yet again. (Thanks for all the kind wishes, BTW. Max and I are doing okay but I think I’ve morphed into a cat since I’m sleeping about 14 hours a day).

The merry men of La Roja & the bebes of La Rojita taped holiday messages and – glory be! – blooper reels (I’m side eyeing you, Real Madrid – better get mine tomorrow). So here you go. Chori was very, very Chori (I like how someone handed him a giant Christmas tree to put at crotch level – just adding more fuel to his nickname, eh?) Everyone is just a complete goofball. I do love seeing Xabi crack up and Alvaro being (lovingly) frustrated by his boo. I also got a kick out of how they paired tiny guys with big dudes and perched the wee ones on the shelf (Mata/Negredo, Monreal/Llorente). Continue reading

Friday Training, Transfer Drama, Spain Call Ups

30 Aug

Entrenamiento (9)Casanova picked a great person to bromance with, didn’t he? Casacelo? Anyhow, these two were adorable at training. You can see them goofing around in the video after the jump. Continue reading

The Daily Drool: Alvaro Negredo

8 Sep

Maisougio, Jellyace and I were talking about our love of Negredo during the Spain/Liechtenstein game on Twitter and I thought it was high time he was a Drool. He kicked ass in that game, scoring a brace and when Maisougio & I saw him at Foxboro, he scored against the US as well. Actually, he’s made 6 appearances for La Roja since 2009 and scored 5 goals. Not too shabby, eh? He made one appearance for Spain U21 in 2oo6.  He’s been playing for Sevilla as a striker since 2009, making 74 appearances and scoring 33 times. He was also in our cantera – he played for Real Madrid B from 2005-2007. Hmmmm, may have to buy him for my fantasy footy team! I love how rough and tumble he looks. Yummy. Thanks to watishista! Jellyace for finding this hot piccy of him.

The Daily Drool: Alberto Botia

2 Sep

He’s too pretty to wait another day. I’m just so bummed that I can’t find a shirtless picture of him. Hottie Alberto is a central defender for Sporting de Gijón. He has played for the Spanish U19, U20 and U21 teams. These games vs. Chile and Liechtenstein are his first call up to the senior team.

The Daily Drool: Alexis Ruano

25 Aug

We haven’t had a blonde Drool lately, so here you go! Malaga born defender Alexis has spent his whole career in Spain playing with Malaga B (2001-2004), Malaga (2004-2006), Getafe (2006-2007), Valencia (2007-2010) and currently Sevilla. He’s also represented Spain at the U17, U19, U20 and U21 level (2001-2006).

The Daily Drool: Kike Sola

15 Aug

Forward Enrique “Kike” Sola came up through the Osasuna youth system. He began his senior career with Osasuna B in 2005 and moved up to the first team in 2007. He’s remained there with the exception of loan stints to Numancia and Levadiakos.  He made one appearance for the Spain U21 team in 2008.

The Daily Drool: Pedro Leon

23 Jul

Since I’ll be seeing Real Madrid play today (whooooo!), I thought it would be nice to feature one of our players. Now granted, poor Peter Lion certainly didn’t get much attention when he was on our squad (only 6 appearances this past season), which was a shame. He saved our ass against AC Milan in the Champions League on his only official goal for Los Blancos (pre-season doesn’t count).  I don’t know what he did or how he pissed Mou off (aside from the punch up with Gago) but his future is obviously going to happen elsewhere. He’s a talented kid and I hope wherever he ends up that he gets some playing time. He played for the Spanish U-21 team from 2007-2009. Cool fact: his brother Luis, who races bicycles for UCI ProTeam Rabobank, recently won the Spanish National Time Trial Championships and Stage 9 of the 2011 Tour de France.  They share the same birthday – November 24.

The Daily Drool: Xisco

22 Jul

Hellooooooooooooo, Xisco! Your thighs are epic.  Striker Xisco’s real name is Francisco Jiménez Tejada and he came up through Deportivo La Coruña’s youth system. He was sold to Newcastle in 2008 but rarely played. He was loaned to Racing Santander in 2009-2010 and back to Deportivo La Coruña from January 2011 until the end of the season. As of this month, he reported back to Newcastle for training. Hopefully, he’ll get a bit more play this season! He also represented Spain on the U-21 team in 2007-2009.

Bits and Bobs: Cesc Socializing, Water Wings, Victory, Bad Hair and Transfers

22 Jun

Awkward moments on the town with Cesc Fabregas:“Hey Gio, haven’t seen you since the World Cup Final! Wasn’t that day awesome?! Oh…um, never mind”

Cesc continues to live it up in Jakarta. He tweeted this picture of himself hanging out with Dutch ‘baller Gio van Bronckhorst. He wasn’t the only one enjoying himself today. New pix of the Torres family surfaced as well in the Daily Mail (along with Rio Ferdinand in a pool surrounded by women, but I don’t much care about that). Clickthrough for the ovary exploding cuteness…

The Daily Drool: Miguel Torres

2 May

Oh hello there, Hot Stuff! Miguel came up through the Real Madrid system as a full back, beginning in 2005 and joining the first team in 2007. In August 2009, he moved to Getafe on a 5 year contract with an option for Real to buy him back within the first two. He also spent 2007-2009 as a member of the Spanish U-21 team.
