Here’s how the quarter-finals shaped up following some wickedly dramatic moments in the final round. The most dramatic was the China vs Nigeria match. China needed to win vs Nigeria and Nigeria just needed a draw to go through to the quarter-finals. It looked like China had the win until the 90+5′ minute when Nigeria bagged the tying goal. Crystal DunnWell, the USWNT Olympic run certainly didn’t exactly end as I would have liked. (And don’t get me started on Hope Solo’s asshattery and poor sportsmanship. I’m so done with her. She needs to stop embarrassing herself and our country ::deep cleansing breaths:: ).

But let’s concentrate on this awesome young lady who I just know is going to do us proud in the years to come. Winger Crystal currently plays for the Washington Spirit. She has represented the US at the U17, U18, U20, Olympic and senior levels.

Forward Christen currently plays for Chicago Red Stars and has represented the US at the U20, U23 and senior levels. In university, she won the 2010 Hermann Award and is Stanford’s all time leading scorer. She also has a blog about her life as a footballer.

Friday’s Alright for Injuries

Every football game carries equally the potential for the spectacular and for the horrific. Take the USA vs Brazil match last Friday during the U-20 Women’s World Cup. USA managed to secure the win with a late goal but not before plenty of bumps, shoves, and injuries were littered around the pitch.
