World Cup 2014: Minimalist Posters of Memorable Football Moments

13 Jul

There have been some incredible moments at this World Cup. I’ll never forget Tim Cahill’s goal vs Netherlands. That has to be one of, if not THE, goal of this tournament. Xherdan Shaqiri’s thunderbolt vs Honduras was so good, even in a game which saw him net two more. There was Memo Ochoa’s performance vs Brazil. How calm he was, just chewing his gum, moving to and fro across the goal with ease, his hair perfectly coiffed with the headband. There were also Keylor Navas’ go-go-gadget performances vs everyone. The Daily Drool: Luca Toni

27 Dec

Mmmm, Luca Toni. 6’5″ of pretty, pretty Italian man. The striker has had a long and storied career starting with Modena in 1994. He’s played in Serie C1, Serie B and Serie A in Italy. He spent time at Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga before returning to Italy. He currently plays for Juventus. He played for the Italian National Team from 2004-2009 and was part of the World Cup winning squad in 2006.

The Daily Drool: Andrea Pirlo

Fierce midfielder Andrea has had a long and storied career. He began with Brescia (1995-1998) then went to Inter Milan (from 1998-2001 including loan stints with Reggina and Brescia) but the bulk of his career has been with AC Milan (2001-2011). During that time, he won 2 Scudetto, 2 Champions League titles, 2 UEFA Super Cups and 1 Italian Cup. After this season, his contract was not renewed and Juventus snapped him up. I’m really looking forward to seeing him play with them this summer.  He played with the Italian U21 squad (1998-2002) captaining them on their 2000 European Championship. He played on the Italian Olympic team (2000-2004) taking home a bronze in 2004. He has been a member of the Italian senior national team since 2002 and was a member of their World Cup winning side in 2006.
