Preparing For Malmo, Injury Update And Saying Goodbye To One Of Our Legends

The team began their prep as they face Malmo away on Wednesday in the Champions League.

The first teamers were joined by Castilla’s Marcos Llorente, Borja Mayoral, Martin Odegaard, Juan José Narváez and José Carlos Lazo and the U19 team’s Achraf Hakimi.

Sese, Pepe, Jesé, G-Bale, James and Danilo are still mangled, but there’s some encouraging news. The latter three worked a bit outside today. Jese’s injury was not serious. It was cramps and he’s still sore, but there is a chance that he could be called up for Wednesday’s match.  Sergio, James and Gareth are due back soon. There’s a chance Sese could be called up for the Malmo match, but it seems more likely that all three will be ready for the derby on Sunday. Encouraging, to say the least.

We have lost one of our legends: Ignacio Zoco has passed at the age of 76. He played for the team from 1962-1974 winning one European Cup, seven La Liga titles and two Spanish Cups. He was first team delegate from 1994-98 and was serving as president of Real Madrid’s association of former players at the time of his death.

The players had a moment of silence for Zoco at training. Florentino Perez released an official statement. Many officials and Real Madrid greats went to pay their respects.

Our thoughts are with Zoco’s friends and loved ones.
