1 Aug

French born of Senegalese descent, defender Habib played professionally in France (Paris Saint-Germain II, Strasbourg, Marseille) from 1997-2007. He went to the EPL in 2007, joining Newcastle. While he was there he had his own chant which gives me the giggles still to think about it. Of course it was to the tune of “Happy Days” – “Sunday, Monday, Habib Beye / Tuesday, Wednesday, Habib Beye / Thursday, Friday, Habib Beye / Saturday, Habib Beye, rocking all week with you!”  Footy fans are endlessly creative, aren’t they? He joined Aston Villa in 2009. He has played regularly for Senegal’s national team since 2001.
