Top of La Liga and Kickin’ Ass in the Champions League

el smackdown madrileno

*Cue the dramatic music* Our last two matches… in two different competitions…our boys did great things and were rewarded BIG in return. El Smackdown Madrileno! Against Elche we took away the three points and did what?… Oh yeah, assumed our position at the top of La Liga! (with help from Real Sociedad, thank you!) Coming off of that high, it was time to get down to Champions League business. From what we saw on Wednesday, it looked like our boys not only wanted to do well, but also they were up for dishing out a spankin’! Ooh-wee kickin’ ass in Germany! With that, Real Madrid became the first team to score 6 away goals on German soil, in the history of the Champions League. (MisterChip) How’s that for a stat??

First up is some La Liga/Elche action. Before kickoff, a minute of silence was observed for the death of Sergio’s grandfather, Juan García Caballero. The players also wore black armbands in remembrance.

In case you missed it….Isco’s got a thing for ears/jawlines and Nacho likes it.

Hey Xabi, can I call you Big Red? I think Big Red has the best beard growing ability out of the whole team and methinks he knows it too.

Getting down to goal scoring business, it was Illarra who opened up the scoring in the 34th minute. Not only do I love him for that riDICK goal, but also…he’s just so damn cute. Isn’t he?? If he was an animal he’d be a wittle gerbil and that just makes me want to hold & pet him. I wish I could blame that bit of weirdness on some medication, but no, that was all me….moving on! 😉

What the WHATTTT G-MONEY?? The man struck Elche with a long distance stunner in the 71st minute. Ooh it was gooood. Sergio’s reaction says it all.

Wrapping things up was Isco in the 81st minute. It was a tight squeeze between the keeper and the post, but the kid made it freakin’ happen!

Now, for the Schalke spankin’. Man were we ON for Wednesday’s match. I lurve it! Our power trio, BenzBaleCris, got two goals apiece and thanks to them, our spot in the quarter finals is pretty much guaranteed. All the hard work has been done! Woot!

Sami was in the haus supporting his boys and he looked mighty fine in the process!

Go ahead and chew that gum, hot stuff.

Who doesn’t love to watch Iker get froggy with it?? Draxler was coming at him, ready to put Schalke’s first goal away and San Iker met his shot with a leap and punch! Amaysing, Iker, amaysing. We’d eventually concede in the 91st minute, but not before Iker set another Spanish record – he went 952 minutes without conceding a goal. *Slow Clap*

Here is the Buh-Buh-Buh-Benz section –  he scored two goals, opening up the scoring in the 13th minute and scoring again in the 57th. I hope these vids stick around on YouTube long enough for you all to see, I couldn’t find gifs this time around :/ But now you get dramatic music to accompany the goals. Hooray!…not.

Here’s Benz’s opener, it almost looks like he forgot what to do after Cristiano’s pretty flick! Maybe the boy was in awe, I certainly was.

His second goal looked all too easy for him, that’s what happens when keepers leave their box and leave an open goal! When Iker does it, BAD, but all opposing teams please feel free to do so. 🙂

The G-Money section. He scored his goals in the 21st and 69th minutes. The first was a beauty, he single-handedly cut through Schalke’s defense to drive that bebe home!

Again Schalke’s keeper stepped out too far and G-Money took advantage, sending his long distance shot right past him.

The Cristiano Section. Crissy scored goals in the 52nd and 89th minutes. His first goal brought the powah and it also brought the bromance. He was met with a Portuguese embrace from Coentrao, who looked like he was about to burst with…something. Love? Pride? Happiness? All of the above? Probably the last one. His face was bright red and the moment was adorable. Cristiano was also awarded a mid-match beso from Sergio! I just realized that my goal celebration description, isn’t something you’ll see in the videos posted. I couldn’t find that shit on YouTube but you can find it on MGEF‘s tumblr.

Our 6th and final goal in the 89th minute! CRISTIANOOOOOOO!

We did it! We did it! We did it!

Ok reading this on the 6 train and people are starting to wonder; I forgot where I was for a moment. Whooohoooo! Now if we can only make Diego Costa cry on Sunday my dreams will have come true. Hala Madrid!!!!

Coupla things – I think it is Coentrao’s fingers all over Nacho’s ear during the Elche match – he’s lurking behind them! And wow, what a relief it is that they’re playing so well and looking so swell in the bargain! Señor Costa had better take a seat. Hala!

Ah! I just noticed his bleached blonde hair peeking out from between the two of them. Thanks for pointing it out that it’s Fabio with an ear fetish!

This was such a fun week!
I wonder if Costa is going to behave a bit less nasty now that he’s called up for the NT…
