What we have above is a well executed pre-match encouragement hug between Dani & Zizou. In fact, Double Zed hugged all his players, but one (hilariously) did not get the memo and the reaction was priceless.
Everyone is hugging along merrily and also kissing in Sergio’s case (lucky bastard and I mean both of them) but Toni blows past huggy Zizou.

And Zizou reacts by scratching his head and pretending all like “We meant to do that! It’s our thing. Totally.”
I have to admit I burst out laughing when I saw this in the video (fun time starts at about :11). I’m sure it was a miscommunication and Toni was just super focused on the upcoming match. But the video was obviously edited so why not leave the whoops! moment?
Cue the “Trouble in the Real Locker Room” and “Kroos Wants A Transfer” bullshit stories in 3…2…1. This is the sort of shit that the tabloids live for.
But seriously, awkward! Feel free to come up with your best conspiracy theory based on the hug in the comments. We are nothing if not a completely creative bunch.
I’ll start: Toni blanked Zizou because Zidane wouldn’t let him be the big spoon during Real Madrid Man Pile Nap Time. Kroos wants a transfer!

Update: I published this post and 2 minutes later (I kid you not!) a story popped into my inbox about Man City & Pep wanting Toni but does he want them back? Dun dun DUN! Should’ve let him be the big spoon, Zizou!
